The short version
Memohop processes your Snapchat Memories on your own computer. Your photos, videos, captions and locations are never uploaded to our servers. We collect as little as possible — just what we need to sell you a license and support you.
The app’s anonymous usage statistics stay off unless you turn them on, and this website uses cookieless analytics that don’t store personal data.
Your memories
When you import a Snapchat export, Memohop reads and processes it locally on your device. That includes restoring dates and locations, rendering captions and overlays, and joining videos.
If your export contains download links instead of media, Memohop downloads those files directly from Snapchat’s servers to your computer.
We don’t have access to your memories, and we can’t see them.
Apple Photos and iCloud
When you publish to Apple Photos, Memohop uses the Photos access built into macOS, which you grant in System Settings. Files go from your computer into your Photos library. If you use iCloud Photos, Apple syncs them according to your iCloud settings and Apple’s privacy policy.
On Windows, Memohop copies the files into the iCloud Photos folder of Apple’s iCloud for Windows app, which uploads them to your iCloud Photos.
Google Photos and Google Drive
If you connect a Google account, you sign in with Google and allow Memohop to add items to Google Photos or save files to Google Drive. Your sign-in token is stored on your device. Files are uploaded directly from your computer to Google — never through our servers.
Memohop only asks for the permissions it needs to create albums and upload the items you choose. You can revoke access at any time in your Google Account settings.
Memohop’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Purchases and license keys
Payments are processed by Stripe, which collects the details needed to process your order (such as your name, email, billing address and payment information). We receive your name, email address and order details from Stripe and create your license key, so we can deliver and support your purchase. We never see your full card details.
To activate and check your license, the app sends your license key and your computer’s name to our licensing server, so you can use the key on up to three computers.
When you buy through our website, the checkout link also passes along the page’s language, which button you clicked and — if you arrived through a campaign link — its campaign tags (for example “tiktok”). Stripe stores these with your order and notifies our server when an order is paid or refunded. We then record an anonymous “purchase” or “refund” event in our website analytics with the amount, the currency and those tags — never your name, email address or payment details.
Free plan
If you use Memohop’s free plan, the app sends our server a one-way hashed identifier of your computer, derived from an ID your operating system assigns to it (the ID itself never leaves your computer), together with one-way hashes of the internal IDs of the memories you process on the free plan (at most 100). This happens when the app starts and each time you save or send memories.
We use it only to count the memories included in the free plan, so that reinstalling the app doesn’t reset that count. It contains no photos, videos, file names, or account or contact details, and it isn’t linked to your email address or Snapchat account. We keep it for as long as we offer the free plan. Once you activate a Lifetime license, the app stops sending it.
App usage statistics (optional)
Memohop can send anonymous usage statistics, but only if you say yes when you first open the app. They stay off otherwise, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings (“Share anonymous usage statistics”).
- What’s sent: the name of an event (for example “import finished” or “photos sent to Apple Photos”), rough counts in ranges (such as “500–2,000 memories”), the app version, your operating system version and app language, a random installation ID created on your computer and, if you answer them, “How did you hear about Memohop?” and a creator code.
- What’s never sent: your photos or videos, file names, captions, locations, email address or anything else that identifies you.
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to count these events. The random ID isn’t linked to your name, email address or license, and no personal profiles are created.
This website
This website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. To understand which pages and buttons work, we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool hosted in the EU. It counts page visits and a few actions (such as clicking a download or checkout button) without cookies, without storing personal data and without following you across other websites.
Your browser’s local storage remembers your language choice and, for 30 days, the campaign tags (utm parameters) of the link that brought you here, so we can tell which campaigns work. Our hosting provider, Railway, may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
Emails
If you ask us to email you the download link (or joined the Windows waitlist before Windows launched), we store your email address, language, the computer you told us you use (Mac or Windows), the date and — if you arrived through a campaign link — its campaign tags. This data is stored with Railway on servers in the EU (Netherlands), and our emails are sent through Resend.
We use it to send what you asked for — the download link, or the news that Memohop for Windows is ready — plus a few short emails that help you get your Snapchat export ready. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Service providers
We rely on a few providers, each only for the job described here:
- Railway: hosts this website and the app downloads, and stores email sign-ups, license keys and free-plan counts (servers in the EU).
- Plausible Analytics (EU): cookieless website statistics.
- Resend: delivers our emails.
- Stripe: checkout and payments (your card details stay with Stripe).
- PostHog (EU): anonymous app usage statistics, only if you opt in.
- Google: only if you connect your Google account to publish to Google Photos or Google Drive.
Support
If you email us, we use your message and email address to help you. Please don’t send us your memories unless we ask for a specific file to fix a problem.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU or the LGPD in Brazil), you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and object to certain processing. Email us at [email protected] and we’ll respond within the time limits set by applicable law. You can also contact your local data protection authority.
Data retention
We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting laws require. Email addresses from the waitlist or the download-link form are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and never more than 12 months after you signed up. Website and app statistics are only kept as anonymous, aggregated counts.
Children
Memohop is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country.

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we’ll let customers know by email.
